  UUCP Gateway Exchanges Mail with UNIX Host

The UUCP gateway allows Infinite InterChange to exchange Internet mail for an entire domain through a UUCP mailbox. UUCP, the UNIX-to-UNIX Copy Program, is a protocol used by UNIX systems to copy files between remote dial-up sites. By installing Interchange with a UUCP gateway for your messaging server you'll be able to send mail and transfer files too. You can use the email product you know, and let the gateway take care of the rest. The Interchange UUCP gateway will call the UNIX host automatically when there is outgoing mail to deliver and check for incoming mail from UNIX at regular intervals.

Options

Pick up remote mail from UUCP mailbox

Select this option to retrieve mail for your network from a UUCP mailbox. This option allows you to use a part-time connection to send and retrieve Internet e-mail. This configuration requires that your service provider accept mail for your domain and place it in a UUCP mailbox.

Route all outgoing mail through UUCP

Select this option to send all outbound Internet messages to the UUCP mailbox. Clear this option to send all outbound Internet messages using the Infinite InterChange SMTP Server. If your message recipients complain of long delays in receiving e-mail, you may want to clear this option. Because UUCP hosts exchange mail in large batches, these hosts may take longer to send outbound messages.

Connect Script

The default communications script should work with most UUCP hosts. However, you may use this option to edit the communications script that Infinite InterChange uses to log into the remote UUCP host.
